Who Are Really *Your People ?

This blog is all about making you realize how important it is to be surrounded by your people and what that really means. Because there are so many things about the people around us that we probably don’t even look at.

You don’t even know how much it affects you to surround yourself with the right people.

We grow up with our parents.

We grow up looking up to our parents, our older siblings, or whoever is older than us and As kids, we make friends so easily. Everything feels simple.

But when we grow older, we start asking ourselves:

“How many of those people are truly still there?”

☾ The people you surround yourself with can influence your confidence, your mindset, your dreams, and even the way you see yourself. ☾

And sometimes, we don’t even notice it happening because Growing Up Changes the Way We See People.

Being a kid, everything feels so easy and exciting.

I loved meeting people. I was a huge extrovert. Until people started bullying me, talking about me in stupid ways, teasing me – whatever it was, there always seemed to be something my classmates, older people, or even men had to say about me.

And this made me become a much more careful person when it came to trusting people.

☾I started thinking more about who I let into my life, who I trust, and who I feel comfortable being myself around. I realized pretty quickly, even at a young age, who I felt like I could truly be myself around and who I couldn’t.

And I guess some of you out there can relate to this and maybe need to hear this too.

WHO ARE NOT YOUR PEOPLE?

This is the first big sign you shouldn’t ignore:
How do you feel when you are around them?

People who constantly tease you, judge you, put you down, or don’t even make an effort to get to know the real you are probably not your people.

People who say, “I wish you the best,” but somehow never actually show up for you.

People who make you question your worth. People who leave you feeling drained instead of energized.

And sometimes, we hold onto these relationships simply because we’ve known someone for a long time.

But history doesn’t always mean connection.

You can know someone for years and still realize that they aren’t someone you want surrounding you anymore.

And that’s okay.

How the Wrong People Change You

The people around you influence what you normalize, what you believe about yourself, what you think is possible, and sometimes even how big you allow yourself to dream.

And the wrong people can change you a lot.

Because you start second-guessing yourself.

You become instantly quieter.

Sometimes the biggest sign that you are around the wrong people isn’t that they are constantly saying something horrible to you.

It’s that you stop talking.

You stop saying what you really think.
You think twice before telling a joke.
You become careful about what you wear, what you say, what you post, what you dream about.

You start thinking:

“Maybe I shouldn’t say that.”

“Maybe that’s too much.”

“Maybe they’ll think I’m weird.”

“Maybe I should just stay quiet.”

…..

And slowly, you start hiding parts of your personality because:

And in the end…

You are giving yourself up because of people who want to change who you are. And I don’t think that’s what life is supposed to feel like.

And it’s important to understand that this isn’t only about your friends.

The people who influence you can also be your parents, siblings, partners, classmates, coworkers, or anyone you spend a lot of time around.

Sometimes even the people who love us have a different idea of who we should become.

Maybe your parents already have a clear path for your life made up in theirheads. They want the best for you. But maybe that path is just not yours.

Maybe they don’t see your dreams
because they have different goals for your life.

And that can be difficult because you can love someone
deeply and still realize that their vision for your life isn’t your own.

That doesn’t mean they are bad people. It just means you have to learn how to listen to yourself, too.

And this is where the right people can make such a difference.

☾-….

A pretty easy sign that someone is truly your person? You feel SEEN.

I know who my people are when I can joke around with them and laugh until my tummy hurts. When there is nothing they would judge me for. When I can be weird, emotional, loud, quiet, excited, insecure, ambitious –  just completely myself.

Your people don’t necessarily agree with everything you do.

They can disagree with you.

They can tell you when you’re wrong.

They can challenge you.

But they do it with respect.

Because the right people don’t need to make
you feel small in order to feel big themselves.

Your People Give You ENERGY

My people are truly the ones who give me energy, not the other way around.

Because why should I constantly surround myself with someone who talks me down?

Why should I be around someone who makes me feel like I am “nothing”?

Why should I constantly question whether someone actually wants me in their life?

That is not what I need.

And honestly, you don’t need it either.

Healthy relationships should feel safe.

Your friendships should make room for you to grow.

And no, that doesn’t mean every interaction with your people will be perfect.

Sometimes they will annoy you. Sometimes you will disagree. Sometimes you will have fights.

But even in those moments, there is still respect.

There is still care.

There is still a feeling that:

“We are on the same team.”

When You’re With Your People,
You Become More YOU

☾And if you are with your people… Even as an introvert, your extroverted side will shine brighter. Believe me.

Because when you feel safe, accepted, supported,
and understood, you don’t have to overthink everything you say or do.

You can simply exist. You can laugh louder Dream bigger.Talk more. Be more spontaneous. Be more confident.

You stop worrying about whether you are “too much” or “not enough.” You don’t have to constantly check yourself.

You don’t have to wonder:

“Was that weird?”

“Did I say too much?”

“Do they still like me?”

You can just be – And that is such a beautiful feeling.

Because the right people will never make you feel
like you have to shrink yourself to belong.

And it’s not about thinking you’re better than them.
It’s not about suddenly deciding that everyone around you is “toxic.”

It’s simply about protecting your energy and making space for
people who fit the person you are becoming.

Because you are allowed to grow. You are allowed to change. You are allowed to want different things. And you are allowed to choose relationships that make you feel like yourself.

So… Who Are Your People?

Maybe it’s time to pause and really look around you. Who are the people who make you feel truly seen, supported, and understood?

Who celebrates your wins, listens to your dreams, gives you energy, and respects you even when you disagree? Who stays beside you when you need to cry, and who can make you laugh until your tummy hurts?

More than anything, who makes you feel safe enough to let your guard down, be completely honest, and simply be yourself? Those are the people worth holding close.

When was the last time you were around someone and thought:

“I can completely be myself here.”

Maybe those are the people you should be making more room for.

Those are your people.

And once you find them, hold onto them.
