This blog is really about finding your purpose again by spending less time on your phone, or even learning how to use it in a better and wiser way. Because do you ever feel like you spend hours scrolling through all your social media platforms, and in the end, it actually feels… boring? I get it.
But there is so much more behind that feeling
and the reason why you keep doing it.
Phones can be pretty damn useful.
But you have to learn how to use them the right way.
Today, I want to talk about:
- Why you feel like scrolling on your phone all day — and the feeling behind it
- What you can do to spend less time on your phone
- What you can do instead of scrolling while actually learning and educating yourself
- How you can use your phone in a more meaningful way
1. Why do you feel like scrolling all day?
Sometimes, it feels like nothing gets you excited anymore.
Social media can make you feel so trapped especially when you’re already someone who puts a lot of pressure on yourself.
You see videos of those “perfect” gym girls, and suddenly you think:
Okay, I need to get up. I need to work out too. I need to look like that.
Then you see someone travelling. Someone with the perfect relationship. Someone building a business. Someone who has their entire life together.
And suddenly, you feel like you should be doing all of it.
Your brain gets overwhelmed by all these different influences.
So maybe the real reason you scroll all day isn’t simply that you’re bored.
Maybe it’s because nothing feels “good enough” anymore.
You keep comparing your life to everyone else’s. And that can completely change the way you see yourself.
Stop scrolling to stop comparing.
Social media can be pretty fake, too. And I’m saying this as someone who struggles with comparison myself. I compare myself to everyone.
Why? Honestly, I don’t even know.
Maybe because sometimes I still struggle to fully accept myself. But since I’ve started scrolling less especially mindlessly scrolling – I’ve started seeing myself more clearly.
I notice the little things about myself that make me me. The things nobody else has.
And honestly? That’s beautiful.
Because social media can slowly take
away our sense of reality.
You spend so much time looking at other people’s lives that you forget to actually look at your own.
So when you truly stop endlessly scrolling, you might start noticing things differently.
Your room. Your hobbies. Your friends. Your personality.
The little moments in your everyday life.
Things you completely forgot were there.
2. So, what can you actually do about it?
Honestly, think about what you used to do when you were younger.
Before your phone was constantly in your hand.
What did you enjoy?
for example?
➤
You don’t need to suddenly become a completely different person and delete every social media app.
Just start replacing some of that scrolling time with things that actually make you feel alive.
Instead of spending an hour scrolling before bed, maybe read a few pages of a book.
★Listen to a podcast.
★Watch something that actually teaches you something.
★Call a friend.
★Or just put your phone away and sit with your own thoughts for a while.
And if you struggle with doing this, try using a screen-time limit. It might sound simple, but sometimes having that little reminder that says
“You’ve been on your phone for two hours”
is exactly what you need.
3. What can you do instead of scrolling?
This is where I think we sometimes get the wrong idea. The goal isn’t necessarily to use your phone less and less until you barely use it at all.
The goal is to use it more wisely.
Why not actually use the device you already have?
For example, I’ve started so many different creative projects because I love editing, designing and creating content. And yes, technically, I’m still using social media. But I’m developing myself. I’m learning. I’m creating. I’m exploring something I genuinely love. And that feels completely different from lying in bed for an hour scrolling through random videos that I won’t even remember tomorrow.
So ask yourself:
What are you actually curious about?
Maybe there’s a topic you’ve always wanted to understand.
★Google it. But really Google it.
★Read about it.
★Watch documentaries.
★Find books or articles.
★Take notes.
★Make a mind map.
Go down the rabbit hole of something that genuinely interests you.
It’s never too late to learn something new.
So instead of letting the algorithm decide what gets into your head all day, start deciding for yourself.
4. Your phone is a tool. Use it like one.
I work online, and because of that, I see the online world a little differently than someone who has never really experienced what it can do.
To me, the internet can be a tool for freedom.
★For connection.
★For creativity.
★For inspiration.
★For learning.
★For building something of your own.
Social media can absolutely be used in the completely wrong way. But a lot of the time, you have more control over your feed than you think. You choose who you follow. You choose what you search for. You choose what you interact with.
So go follow people who support you. People who inspire you. People who teach you something. People who make you want to get up and actually live your life.
Not people who constantly make you feel like you’re not enough.
Because your feed becomes part of the environment you live in every day.
And if you surround yourself with comparison, pressure and unrealistic expectations, it’s no wonder you feel exhausted.
It can stop being the thing that steals your life
and become a tool that helps you build it.
