He Cheated. And It Wasn’t About You

Cheating

Being cheated on hurts in ways that are hard to explain. You question yourself, your value, and what you could have done differently. But someone else’s lack of loyalty is never a reflection of your worth. In this blog, I want to share how I felt during that time  and how I refused to let the situation make me doubt my self-worth.

To every girl in her 20s who loved a cheater…

I know you only saw the good in him.

I know how much it hurts – especially when it was unexpected.

I know you blame yourself.

You replay conversations.

You search for the moment you “weren’t enough.”

You sit there with so many questions, doubts, and confusion.

But let me tell you something clearly:

This is not about you.

I Was Blind in Love

Six months ago, I met someone.

It was the first time I was completely blind in love. And maybe we all need that once  to feel it fully, to experience what it’s like to fall without fear.

But I believed in something better

I believed he could change.

I believed I could change him.

I ignored red flags.

I ignored signs.

I told myself that one day he would realize how

good we are together and that he doesn’t need anyone else.

Why People Cheat

People don’t cheat because you’re not enough.

Some people love the feeling of being wanted more than they love being committed…

And sometimes someone can treat you so well in person and still hide things from you.

That’s what makes it so confusing.

But their lack of integrity is not a reflection of your value.

The Hard Truth About “He Will Change”

Can people change? Yes.

  • But not because you begged.
  • Not because you cried.
  • Not because you stayed.

Real change takes time. —

Accountability. Therapy. Self-awareness. The decision to change for themselves.

It’s okay to forgive once.

But if it repeats again and again, it stops being a mistake… and becomes a pattern.

How to Actually Get Over Someone Who Cheated

Leave.

Say what you need to say. Be calm, but be firm. Close the door.

If seeing him on social media hurts you — block him.

Archive the chats.

Stop looking at old pictures.

Every time you go back, you reopen the wound.

And ask yourself honestly:

After he cheated, would you ever feel completely peaceful again?

Would you enjoy a girls’ trip?

Or would you be checking your phone all night, wondering where he is?

🦋Now Choose Yourself

🦋I know you saw him in your future.

🦋I know you wanted this to work.

But that part is no longer in your control.

What is in your control is how you move forward.

🦋Choose your happiness.

🦋Choose your peace.

🦋Choose your nervous system.

🦋Go to the gym.

🦋Start running.

🦋Journal.

🦋Meet your friends.

🦋Learn new things.

🦋Build yourself.

Even if you feel empty go for a walk.
That’s already a step forward.

and let‘s be honest

The Real Ending

Maybe he will change one day.

Maybe he won’t.

Maybe one day he’ll understand what he lost.

Maybe he won’t.

But that is no longer your responsibility.

Your responsibility is healing the part

of you that thought you had to compete for loyalty.

The part of you that believed love meant tolerating confusion.

The part of you that thought being patient would eventually make someone choose you.

Love should not feel like waiting.

It should not feel like proving your worth.

This didn’t make you weaker

It made you aware.

⚝Aware of red flags.

⚝Aware of your standards.

⚝Aware that you deserve to be chosen without hesitation.

So no — this wasn’t the love story you imagined.

But maybe it was the lesson you needed.

And one day, when someone stands next to you proudly, consistently, peacefully…

You’ll be grateful you didn’t stay where you were not fully valued.
