This blog is for everyone who is going through heartbreak, has lost their spark, or has just come out of a dark place. Whatever you’re going through, you know one thing:
Something needs to change.
And usually, the first thing we think is:
“I need a glow up.”
But I think the internet has completely changed what a glow up is supposed to be.
So let’s talk about what a real glow up actually is.
What is a real glow up? (My honest opinion)
To me, a true glow up is getting your spark back.
It’s walking into a room and people can simply tell you’re doing better because you have this
light about you.
And yes… we all want that.
But somewhere along the way, the meaning of a glow up changed.
Now it’s often about
losing weight,
becoming smaller,
following impossible beauty standards,
or pushing yourself until you’re completely burned out.
Because THE INTERNET IS SHOWING US SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
I used to believe I wasn’t happy enough
because I needed to lose weight.
And when I finally did, I called it my glow up.
But here’s something I’ve learned:
If you gained weight and you’re happier than you’ve ever been…
That is also a glow up.
How to have a glow up that actually feels like magic
Being tired can
have many reasons.
- Maybe you’re low on vitamins.
- Maybe it’s magnesium.
Or maybe you’ve simply never had a routine that supports you.
Try this for one week:
❥Sleep around 8 hours.
❥Eat breakfast.
❥Stretch.
❥Move your body.
❥Drink a big glass of water.
❥Eat food that nourishes you instead of drains you.
Because when your body feels better,
your skin, mood, posture, and confidence often improve too.
You don’t need a 15-step skincare routine.
Just start with the basics.
❥Cleanse your face.
❥Moisturize with a gentle cream that works for your skin.
❥Wear sunscreen every single day – even in winter.
Simple is enough.
Instead of asking: “What’s trending?”
Ask yourself:
❥What colours make me feel pretty?
❥What clothes feel comfortable?
❥What makes me feel confident?
❥What makes me feel like myself?
Once you stop dressing for everyone else
and start dressing for yourself,
you’ll naturally shine more.
Sometimes the best thing we can do is
stop thinking about all our problems for a
moment and simply be present.
Today, get dressed.
Wear something that makes you feel confident.
Put on your favourite perfume.
Listen to your favourite music.
Smile.
Walk with confidence.
And yes…
Fake it till you make it.
One thing that truly helps:
Stop checking yourself in every mirror.
One look is enough.
Then go out and enjoy your day.
➙Be kind.
➙Compliment someone.
➙Help someone.
➙Be the kind of person you admire.
★ You don’t have to change your face.
★ You don’t have to become skinnier to deserve happiness.
★You don’t have to look like every influencer online.
★You don’t need surgery.
★You don’t need to work out until you’re exhausted.
★You don’t need to stop eating just to end up with an eating disorder.
Please be careful, sweetheart.
A real glow up is not about becoming smaller.
It’s about becoming happier.
Yes, moving your body is amazing.
Yes, becoming stronger is amazing.
But not because you hate yourself.
Because you love yourself enough to take care of yourself.
★Work on your mindset.
★Journal your thoughts.
★Spend time with people who genuinely hype you up.
★Do hobbies that make you feel alive.
★Limit your screen time if your For You Page constantly makes you compare yourself.
Your environment matters more than you think.
Instead of asking:
“Am I good enough?”
“Do I look like her?”
Ask yourself:
“Did I sleep well today?”
“Do I have enough energy?”
“Am I taking better care of myself?”
“Do I like the person I’m becoming?”
Because that is what growth looks like.
And growth creates the most beautiful glow up.
A glow up is here to make you feel better
– not worse.
A glow up starts from within before it ever shows on the outside.
A glow up is about becoming healthier, happier, and more confident.
A GLOW UP IS NOT HERE TO MAKE YOU SMALLER.
My honest opinion.
This topic has been difficult for so many
of us because social media keeps showing us
what a glow up is supposed to look like.
But there isn’t one version. Every glow up looks different.
And one day you’ll wake up, look in the mirror, and realise…
It was never about becoming someone else.
It was about finding yourself again.
