Solo Travel Packing List Asia (what we girls need)

This blog is for you if you’re about to travel to Asia and feel overwhelmed thinking:

What backpack should I bring?

How many clothes do I actually need?

Do I really need all of this?

I get it because I was exactly there.

When I first started solo traveling, I packed way too much but Now? I travel with a backpack the size of a big carry on and pack very minimalistically because the truth is:

🌏 Where this advice comes from

This packing list is based on my personal experience traveling through:

  • Indonesia
  • Thailand
  • Laos
  • Sri Lanka
  • The Philippines

So everything here is what I have experienced by myself 🙂

First important truth: You are probably overpacking

Most people do.

You bring:

  • too many clothes
  • things “just in case”
  • items you’ll never use

But here’s the thing:

👉 You’ll want to shop while traveling
👉 Laundry is cheap and easy
👉 You’ll wear the same favorite outfits anyway

So: pack light. You’ll thank yourself later.

Packing LIst

👗 Clothing essentials (simple & realistic) Bring comfortable clothes – you’re there to explore, not to impress.

✈️ Travel outfit tip

wear your warmest clothes on the plane:

  • long pants
  • t-shirt
  • hoodie
  • scarf (planes can be freezing!)

👉 Saves space in your backpack.

💄 Other essentials for women

Toiletries & personal care

  • Sunscreen (much more expensive in Asia!)
  • Your own body lotion
  • Minimal makeup (you won’t use as much as you think)
  • Period products (bring your preferred type)
  • Mosquito spray (buy it there in the country –  it’s usually stronger and more effective locally)

Bags & tech

  • 1 bigger day bag
  • 1 small bag for going out
  • Universal adapter (multi-port is a game changer)

❌ What NOT to pack for Asia

Avoid:

  • Too many clothes
  • Jeans (heavy, hot, uncomfortable)
  • Too many shoes
  • Full makeup kits
  • “Just in case” outfits

 reality check:
 👉 You’ll repeat outfits
👉 You’ll choose comfort every time
👉 You’ll wish your bag was lighter

🌴 Final advice

Packing light is not about having less it’s about:

  • feeling free
  • moving easily
  • enjoying your trip without stress

And trust me…

👉 You can always buy things there.
👉 But carrying too much? You can’t undo that easily.

💛 You got this
