It’s frustrating to feel like you’re putting in effort and getting nothing back. But sometimes the problem isn’t that it’s not working – it’s that you haven’t stayed consistent long enough to see it work. And this blog is exactly about this topic!
We often complain:
“Why is this not working?”
“Why am I not improving?”
“How can I get faster results?”
But a better question would be:
Are you really doing the work consistently?
Because doing something 2 days out of 7 and expecting results doesn’t work.
– Progress comes from showing up even when you don’t see immediate improvement.
Consistency Beats Motivation
Think about it like starting a new hobby.
– If you try something for a week like surfing and decide it’s not for you, how would you even know? You’ve barely started. Learning something new takes time, repetition, and patience.
From my own experience, I’ve realized that growth isn’t linear.
Some things take longer, some come faster but quitting in your low phases only proves to yourself that you can’t do it.
And ironically, those are exactly the moments where you need to keep going.
Most of the time, the answer is no because you’re walking away before giving yourself a real chance.
We’re often so focused on the big picture that we forget about progress along the way.
What about the small wins?
Even if it feels like there aren’t any there usually are.
And if not, tell yourself:
“It’s okay. I’ll create one tomorrow.”
Your Mindset Shapes Your Results
Your mindset matters more than you think.
If you constantly tell yourself
“I can’t do this” or “I’m not seeing results,”
you’ll only create more pressure and frustration.
Try shifting it to:
“I can do this. My time will come.”
That shift alone can calm your mind and help you stay consistent without burning out.
MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
I started surfing a year ago, but only when I was in the Philippines and Bali I began going consistently. I showed up again and again everyday – even on the days I did not want to leave my bed… BUT that’s EXACTLY when I finally saw real progress and I improved much faster.
But then I switched to a shorter board… and suddenly I felt like a beginner again.
Just at a different level
but this made me think about this quote:
So don’t wait for results to enjoy the process.
Enjoy improving. Enjoy learning. That’s what keeps you going.
MY TIPS THAT CAN
HELP YOU STAY MORE CONSISTENT:
- Bad day? Switch to “enjoyment tasks.”
Do the things you actually like so you still show up instead of dropping everything. - Attach it to your routine.
Link tasks to habits you already do (like a morning routine) so starting feels automatic - Build a bonus into the plan.
“I work for an hour, then I get coffee / walk / meet a friend” give your brain a reason to move. - Change the environment, not your mood.
Don’t wait to feel ready put on music, move your body, and start anyway. - Pick real priorities in the moment and accept them.
Ask what actually matters right now, commit to it, and let the rest wait without guilt.
Final Thoughts
Consistency doesn’t come every day with joy, but you can really work on it work on yourself, work on your mindset and then life becomes easier, even on the days when you have no energy at all. But girl, you know where you want to be, you know what it takes. You’ve got this.
- Don’t pressure yourself to be further ahead
- Focus on consistency, not perfection - even 15 min a day is a WIN
- You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to keep going.
